Birds
BODIES
Birds are the only animals with feathers. Feathers are important because they keep birds warm and help them fly. They also give birds their special colors!
FOOD
Backyard birds munch on seeds, but some also eat fruit and insects. Want to attract birds to your backyard? A bird feeder will do the trick.
HABITAT
Mama birds usually build nests in trees to protect their eggs and babies. Some birds don’t make nests, and will lay their eggs on the ground instead.

Cats
BODIES
Cats have a very rough tongue, which they use to clean their body. Whether big or small, cats are very fast and can move around without making a sound.
HABITAT
Pet cats live in houses with their owners. But some cats can be found in busy areas with a lot of people or in forests. Cats can survive by themselves.
FOOD
Cats are carnivores, which means they like to eat meat. Regardless of their size, cats need meat to live healthy, long lives.

Frogs
BODIES
Frogs have two bulging eyes. Long, webbed hind feet help frogs jump and swim. Did you know these little leapers don’t drink? They have special skin that absorbs water (and helps them breathe).
FOOD
Small-to-medium sized frogs eat live insects, such as flies and mosquitoes. Frogs will use their long, sticky tongue to catch these critters.
HABITAT
Frogs live near lakes, streams, and ponds, like the one in Monty’s backyard. Being close to the water helps frogs keep their skin moist and absorb water to stay healthy.

Mice
BODIES
Mice have pointy noses, large ears, and tails that are usually longer than their body. An adult mouse is only around 3 inches long, making it the smallest of Monty’s pals.
FOOD
Don’t be fooled by their tiny size. Mice love seeds, cereal, and sweets, but will eat many different types of food.
HABITAT
Mice will live anywhere but their favorite place to camp out is around houses and people. Mice make nests out of paper, where they sleep during the day. They love to scurry around at night!
